Mk2 Storm in scrappers. Anyone for a project?

Friend in Cornwall rang today after he found a dark grey/gunmetal Storm with brown leather interior at the scrapyard. Apparantly it's low mileage approx 60k Dealer says it's too good to scrap. And has another mk2 there that he would sell as well for parts. Not sure on a price but he wants £400 for ...

Re: Bilstein b4 / Eibach pro-kit

Jeez. Yeh that's really surprising. Perhaps that explains why the original stops were torn to shreds when I first took them apart.

Seems a bit odd, but I'm kinda new to all this...

Re: K-jet Idle speed changing...

Had a minute to check this out. O ring felt OK. Business end of screw was encrusted with hard black stuff. Carbon build up maybe. The entire intake system was covered in it when I got the car. Carb cleaner wouldnt shift it. http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u639/jacklivesey/Mobile%20Uploads/2016 ...

Re: Bilstein b4 / Eibach pro-kit

What bumpstops are you using? On the phone to both, Eibach said they didn't know which dampers were matched to pro-kit, but that the kit was matched to mk2. Bilstein said that the b4's were only a direct replacement for OEM dampers. Not for lowering springs. B8's were a match to pro-kit, but b8's ...

Re: K-jet Idle speed changing...

She gets used pretty regularly. 800+ miles in last month... Had a weird one this evening. Parked up with headlights on and Idle speed was hunting in a mesmeric fashion between 200 and 600. Turned the lights off, then on and idie settled to its regular 200-300 rpm Gonna try bringing Idle speed back ...

K-jet Idle speed changing...

Got the Idle speed down from 1300 to 950 last summer; cleaned metering head, air filter, throttle body. Ran lovely like this for several months. Car was then laid up for maybe 4 months. On bringing her out of hibernation the idle speed has now dropped to 200-300 but occasionally, usually after a ...

Re: Bilstein b4 / Eibach pro-kit

Right on James, thank you for the advice. Got a '91 Scala on snowflakes so might get away with trimming the stops and adding 6mm spacers. Give it a go this week. Little further North than Newbury, Wallingford way. I'd keep your original springs if possible, I only got rid of mine as they didn't ...

Re: Bilstein b4 / Eibach pro-kit

its like ive run over a curbstone. Exactly! The b8's are too rich for my blood... look great though. currently feels like its shaking the car to bits, and a bit nervous about trimming bumpstop as the tire is already really close to the arch. Seriously considering reverting to original springs and ...

Re: Bilstein b4 / Eibach pro-kit

Turns out that due to thread manufacturing processes, nylocks must have a thread and a half visible in order to grip properly. So spacers are now 6mm. Doesn't seem a lot.

Experiments to follow.

Bilstein b4 / Eibach pro-kit

In July 2015 I treated the mk2 to a new set of springs and dampers as above. After discovering the car had mismatched springs on the rear and was lopsided up forward. Put on new wishbones and bushes, lower ball joint, top mounts, oem bumpstops and boots as all of these were knackered. I bought the ...

Re: Forgotten GTX

Hi, do you have the part number for said microswitch? Think I could be experiencing a similar problem.

Car's an absolute stunner!
