Re: 1989 MK2 GT2
In the attempt at tidying the old girl up, I decided the wipers needed freshening up. So i replaced both front wipers and sprayed the wiper arms black as they'd gone faded and had little white paint splashes on them. I noticed as soon as i bought the car that the steering wheel had been put on funny ...

1989 MK2 GT2 1.8 Carb
Hello guys, My names Leon, i'm currently 21 and i've recently acquired a MK2 GT2! I'm unsure on how long i'm going to keep this but I love doing Progression blogs and reading others so i thought i would give this a crack. It's had a 'custom' paint job. It's a bit marmite tbh. When i first got this ...

Re: Coolant/Water Leak
Finally after sorting the cutting out issue and the snapped belt.. it runs! But now it's got a slight issue with smoking on idle. I'll leave it in my garage on idle and it starts smoking out from under the carb which I can only imagine is the manifold?? Problem after problem with this thing.

Re: Coolant/Water Leak
Turns out the belt I received was too small, could only fit around the Alternator belt and Water pump?? Any ideas on what one to order?

Only drove it about half a mile - a mile max home after the belt had snapped. Luckily I was a mile away really.

Coolant/Water Leak
Found yet another fault with my MK2 1.8 GT2.. It kept cutting out when i was driving so i've replaced the fuel filter. On replacing the fuel filter i took it out for a test drive. During the test drive my alternator belt snapped and it started pissing water out of the coolant filler cap?? Anyone ...

Re: Stiff clutch
Thanks for the reply, Ben. Is there a specific way the cable should be routed? As it currently comes out of the bulkhead, goes in front of the engine (in-between the engine and subframe) then into the gearbox.

Stiff clutch
Got an incredibly stiff clutch going on at the moment. Was just wondering what i should be looking at to make it not so stiff. It's got a high biting point but surely that can't effect the hardness of the pedal?I'm thinking perhaps the clutch cable?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Juddering whilst driving/losing power?
I'll have a look tomorrow after work as I need to change the rocker cover gasket on it as well. It's just a standard carb. The filler neck looked fairly solid to me.. but will also check this out tomorrow in a bit more detail. Anything else i should look for?

Juddering whilst driving/losing power?
Hi all, recently acquired a 90' spec GTII. The first few days driving it was running good, no problems. Now i've come across a juddering, losing power in all gears. I can drive for a mile or 2 and it's fine, it then decides to start juddering, losing power, I take it out of gear into neutral and it ...
