Re: Two brown Scirocco's! Mk2 Storm - Ianaudia4

Thank you guys for the kind words. I must admit I've been feeling a little apprehensive about posting here. I know Ian was a very popular member, I know he must have loved his car, and I know I wouldn't have it but for the tragic events that occurred. It was odd how I ended up with the car. I had ...

Two brown Scirocco's! Mk2 Storm - Ianaudia4

Hi All, I'm Paul and as promised here's the start of my restoration thread for the Mk2 Storm that I bought following the very sad loss of Ian Croucher RIP. I hope what I achieve would meet with his approval and all of yours too. My plans will be to restore the car keeping it mainly standard, but ...

Re: Check past MOTs online

The web address has changed for this service but they don't seem to have advertised it very well. As posted they don't even seem to tell you on the old address! Try

https://mot-history.net/

Its now even better than before as you don't need any certificate numbers so you can just check the history ...

Re: Cheating!

We've been discussing this at work also!

When modern VW's and Audi's are emission tested say for an MOT, during the 'rev test' when stationary, they will only rev to around 2500 revs as a maximum! This is often too low to even trigger most diesel smoke testers. As soon as the wheels are turning ...

Re: 1985 Mk2 Storm - SOLD

If memory serves it was around Wincanton! I went there for something small like a rear light and filled the back of my pickup! He just kept bringing stuff out of the garage and selling it for next to nothing! I'm guessing that wouldn't happen now!

Your mk1 looks very nice! I'll get a pic up of mine ...

Re: 1985 Mk2 Storm - SOLD

Will do absolutely and thank you! I will start a restoration thread and post pics once I've worked out how to!

I bought a load of mk1 bits and collected from a guy in Somerset years ago! He had a bare shell in his garage on wheels?

Re: 1985 Mk2 Storm - SOLD

And so, thanks to Sean, massive thanks to Ant, Peter and the delightful Mr. & Mrs. Croucher, Ian's Storm has come to stay with me and my brown Mk1 Storm in leafy Hampshire! I think this will always be Ian's Storm so I'll just say I'll be looking after it for now!

My intentions for the Mk2 will be ...

Re: What is an honest price for mk1 doors

About five years ago, a friend of mine told me there was a Scirocco breaking at a local breakers and thought it was a MK1. Curiosity finally got the better of me as I was sure I would find a Mk2, but a Mk1 it was. It was is awful condition and had suffered an engine and interior fire, but the doors ...
