Re: Intermittent Problem
When it dies does it start up again straight away?
Could be the ignition switch? Or the plug that pushes on to it? Or a relay

Re: Headlight fault -MOT wednesday - Help!!!
Could be a bad earth somewhere, which could limit the current draw through the lights and cause some but not all to come on.
Its worth giving the earthing points a check for tightness

Re: My Green '88 GTX
I'd like to have gone to Stonor park but already got something on tomorrow :-(
The wheels looked a lot lighter shade of silver before I put the lacquer on then they went quite dark. Theyre ok for now and a massive improvement on the mullered p slots that were on the car but I might spray them ...

Re: My Green '88 GTX
Yes I definitely want to go to some shows! Ive had the car long enough to be confident of it being alright on a long trip now :-)
I spent some time over the past few days respraying and fitting the Zandvoort wheels

Re: Aux air valve removal
It can be done in situ, I recently changed mine and although its awkward it does come off. I took a lot of the other hoses off first to make access easier

Re: Spotted
Seen three mk2's this week,
A white (gt2 i think) travelling south on the a26 between Crowborough and Uckfield on Tuesday night.
A black mk2 Gti around Peacehaven and Newhaven, lowered and a really nice sounding exhaust note
A blue Scala around Peacehaven, also sounding great

The polybushes on the rear beam make a real difference on the road, much more stable round fast corners

Re: Fuel seeping from fuel tank
Ive just bought a new tank from heritage for my mk2, £109 inc vat straight off the shelf.
It says it is galvanised so i wasnt going to go mad painting it, just a coat and then some sort of stonechip guard for the underneath?

Re: My Green '88 GTX
Thats about how much i expected it to be. I just hope everything comes undone easily, looking at the rear beam brackets the nuts holding them to the body are really rusted badly

Re: My Green '88 GTX
Well, its mot time on tuesday and spent the morning going over the car looking for anything that it might fail on. Noticed the petrol tank looked a bit wet near the filler neck pipe, had a closer look and the tank has rotted through just above the connecting pipe sticks out for the filler neck :-o ...

Re: Volvo 480 alloys on a Mk2??
Im missing 3 centres for the p-slots.
Picking up the Zandvoorts tomorrow and I have a feeling the centres might fit both sets of wheels, the mounting clip looks the same but not sure of the outer diameter

Re: Volvo 480 alloys on a Mk2??
Did you get them?
I didnt bother in the end. The centre bore was only 52.1mm, i contacted two local firms about enlarging it, one wanted £100 and the other wasnt interested!
I'm now looking a set of 14" zandvoort wheels from a b3 passat gt :-)
Its not that I'm not happy with the p-slots on my ...

Re: Volvo 480 alloys on a Mk2??
Oh no! Thanks for that mr.brown, I never even considered the centre bore size would be an issue. Darn those Swedes and their small wheel centre bore sizes!
