Re: There's a bloke down the pub...
GTI 8v doesn't run some mental wild cam as standard so it won't make a carb model run lumpy or like a honda 16v where you have to rev the nuts off it.
With a very long hill you an get a Mk2 1.6 to read off the 120mph clocks ... but it has to be a VERY long hill

Re: Affordable performance upgrades?
What is the current output of your 1.6 engine?
I have had one of these up to 102 bhp and 100 lbft
£200 budget?
Shorter gearing? 4.25 final drive would liven it up
Skim the head - more compression may help the output
GTI 8v head ?

280mm calipers and carriers from the Mk3, plus adaptors, plus 4 stud discs from Golf/Corrado G60 / SEAT Ibiza, some pads, and some 15" wheels

Re: ABF Into Mk2 GT
Break it down into smaller questions / tasks
Have you got the full loom from the Mk3 Golf/ SEAT that the engine came out of?
I'm about to do the same as you, but have done this several times before into Mk2 Golf, so it is not completely alien.
The fuel pump, I found a lift pump for fuel injected ...

Re: 1989 Scirocco project
I've seen that a couple of times, always liked that interior.
Brake wise a good servicing will help but they are utterly pappage.
Welcome along
This one has been on here (the site) before then? I tend to hold onto cars so this one isn't going anywhere! :-)

Re: 1989 Scirocco project
Good stuff, I suppose I should have looked that up
but the spec wasn't that important at the time.
Interior is a bit funky, cream everything including seats, doorcards, and dash.
At some point a dye kit has been used but seats are not so good.
Will put an interior pic up in a bit

1989 Scirocco project
Hi All,
This is my first venture into Scirocco territory after having wanted one for years, but only took the plunge recently
Car is I think a GT2, it came with a 1.8 8v carb motor, but has had various modifications by previous owners.
Condition of the body is good overall, the underneath is in ...
