'92 Scala - my new toy...

Hi all. I thought I would start a little story on here following the purchase of my new motor. Has been owned by other members on this site before. Well to start with, I picked it up from Marc on good Friday and drive 160 miles home. Did have to return to his house after the first 5 miles as I found ...

Re: LCD clock - can you still buy them ?

Unsure if you can buy them still. Would have thought you could strip it from a second hand set of dials easily though.
If not, you can buy small 8-segmant display from companies like RS or Farnell (CPC). Driver kit to display time / temp / stopwatch / countdown / etc are only a couple of quid.

Re: what are these switchs ?

These particular switches were supplied by vw to afterrmarket equipment suppliers like i used to be for electric windows. We would fit them to cars that had already been built and delivered to main dealers when a customer ordered one with 'leccy windows, they could get their car in a couple of days ...

Re: Best fuel pump relay?

To be honest, most of the relays available are made by the same chinese companies. I used to work in a high-end automotive electrical company. We used to use Autoleads componants for things such as relays, diode kits, cable etc etc etc.... Never had issues with their relays even switching up to ...

Re: Hot start issue

I used to get this same fault on my triumph spitfire. Found it was caused by wear on the main shaft in the starter. I had tried wd40, oil, grease and graphite oil to no availe. Eventualy decided to take the starter out and fix it rather than perform a short term cure. Found traces of metal swarf ...

Re: £22k for a Scirocco? No, not a mk3....

Definately dodgy....

But I if it's genuine then the price is the same as you would pay for a new sports coupe with only delivery miles on it...!

Bet you a tenner they don't give a 5 year warranty! LOL

Re: Introduce yourself

Hi Ian.
Thanks for the advice. A GTX does appeal, but I would imagine they are a bit rare around here compared to the others.

I have a post in the "wanted" section too.

Re: Introduce yourself

Hi all. I'm Matt from sunny/snowy Hampshire. I am new to this site, but will become a regular here I'm sure. Currently rocco-less, but looking to buy a mk2 within the next 4-6 weeks. Ideally looking for a scala or gt2 from around mid 80's onward. Will keep my eyes peeled on the for-sale section as I ...
