thanks for the quick reply funny you said that as the guy i bought it off replaced fuel pump and all fuel lines and turned out something was blocking fuel pump in the tank, so that looks like a sensible place to start, as special tools or skills needed to access the tank and check?

fitted a 40a/hr battery was a direct replacement for the one that was already on it. these are a couple of pics of the alternator which is on the car now

Would like to upgrade to a more powerful alternator as i get the sense mine is struggling as it is, does that mean as long as the conectors on the back are the same i can fit pretty much and scirocco alternator?
