Fuse 20 keeps blowing help please
Hi folks
I'm having an issue with the old scirocco.
Fuse number 20 keeps blowing, leading to me having no number plate lights and dash board lights. It just happened all of a sudden with no warning
Recently I have had water getting into the fuse box so I've replaced the fuse box with a new one ...

Window washers not working
Hi folks .
As heading my window washers have stopped working, when I pull the stalk to operate it nothing happens, the wipers don't even go for the 5/6 times, the rear doesn't work either. Just happened today, they worked perfectly before
Anyone have any ideas as what might be the issue,
Thanks ...

Re: fuel pressure accumulator problem, or is it?
I'm pretty sure its the accumulator that's at fault
its weeping from the screw on the back plus I discovered the lift pump in the tank is fubar too.
will probably need a new main pump too if the lift pump has starved it of fuel

fuel pressure accumulator problem, or is it?
I took my scala out for a drive for the first time in ages today
It was running great and I was really enjoying my drive. that is until I stopped for fuel after going to pay for the fuel and getting in back into the car , it was really difficult to start. it would turn over for ages then splutter a ...

Re: Something a bit different
I bet it's was a torque monster though. I've seen a few commercial aircooled motors strangest application in combine harvesters of all things.Nate wrote:As an interesting (or not!) aside, the 20v v5 was fitted to some lpg powered forklifts, where it was tuned to produce a whopping 12bhp. Yes, twelve.

Re: Something a bit different
I'm not overly worried about the handling side of things. I'm not one for throwing a car around country roads. Looking for something that'll cruise all day long, I find the original engine although capable on motorways it feels a little strained at 70ish

Re: Something a bit different
I like the sound of that.
I'm not looking for a road rocket but something that'll cruise nicely on motorways and I can have a little fun with.
What's the mpg etc like?

Re: whats its worth?
It's a difficult question
I'm currently selling a 91 scala ( look in the for sale section)
As Ian said mechanically mostly everything is available,I would say body work and condition underneath is more the key to pricing these cars. And rarer models demand more cash, storms, earlier gti's etc ...

Re: Something a bit different
my thoughts exactly
a v5 scirocco would be pretty cool and diferent, but if it's an arse to do, I could sell it all off and go down the 20v turbo route

Re: Something a bit different
next to nothing is £200 which in car terms is next to nothing, once I'm finished with it,(if I go for it) I can weigh in what's left at a scrap metal merchant and get about £100 odd back.

Something a bit different
I got offered an accident damaged (rear ended) mk4 golf V5 today for next to nothing, got me thinking about squeezing the engine into the scirocco. I'll have the whole car at my disposal
I was wondering if anyone had any experience of these engines in either a scirocco or mk1 golf. ie how ...

Re: Snapped wheel bolts
Thanks for all the help folks.
Got new front hubs on the way. Rears came off no breaks. (Broke another on the other side)
Also got new bolts coming from vw dealer. Only £1.20 each for genuine vw ones.
Thanks again
