So the throttle stuck open the other day, just as she clicked over the 50,000 miles, and on a closer look it was discovered that the bush in the top of the pedal was made of cheese and had crumbled away.

Heres the new one from those nice chaps at Volkswagen for £6 next to whats left of the old one ...

Whilst overtaking a car today the throttle pedal stuck to the floor when i changed gear.

I managaed to lift it back up with my foot and bring the revs down but it's kept doing it all the way home.

Had a quick look at the end of the cable where it connects to the top of the pedal and the round bush ...

So i was in the pub last night enjoying an Easter Guinness or two, when this old boy comes over to me and starts talking Volkswagens.

He's obviously aware of my weakness for all things VW and mentions that he's got an old Golf convertible for sale.

Now, im not gay or owt but i've always fancied ...

Right, a quick update.

All the seats have finaly dried out and are all back in the car. They do smell a bit sweeter but theres still a bit of a pong, so it was off to Kevin Halfords in search of a sweeter smell.

I now roll whilst inhaleing fruit berries as apposed to fags, dog and pee pee.

but hopefully I'll end up with the best 1.6 GTi in the country.

Took the spare out had a a good look at it and it looks like the original tyre and wheel and they've never been used.

Had a go at removing the rust stains from the sill, it came up ok but could use another going over.

Spent today ripping out the interior and cleaning and hovering everything to try and rid it of the stench of dog and fags.

Once the seats were removed i discovered not only a half chewed bone but also two used ...

May the CO be high due to the lack of recent use and is it possible this may drop the more the car is used?

It's also an injection engine so that may make a difference?

Out of interest, how did your emissions come out?

Blue interior models are few and far between!

The doors cards look shot and the dash is all cracked from sitting in the sun (!) for so long, so if you know of any good condition ones i may be intrested.

Going to gut it on Saturday and give it a good clean.

Very nice indeed, If I was you I would be spending a few quid on sorting the area around the rear axle mounts as you will be lucky if they see the year out.

The examiner said that he couldn't remember MOT'ing a Scirocco before and was suitably impressed with the overall condition of the car, which was nice!
