Re: Dashboard Options

i've done a beemer dash in a mk1.

looks nice but the heater doesn't clear the screen properly because of the direction the vents point.

compound will only clean up the lacquer. the faded paint wont change, just be brighter.

Re: Suspension renewal time

its worth turning them down to fully soft for a while to let them bed in.

might sound daft but in my experience, they tend to last longer.

i'll 'ave one if theres a job lot available.

on a side note, pilkington do list them but my local supplier was stonewalled when he inquired for me.

Re: Paint recommendations please

£100 a panel!

maybe 5 years ago but not with the price of decent paint now.

it will also have been 2-pack on the original car. they stopped using celly in the 70's.

the colour will definitely have faded so your need at least a blend into adjacent panels.

i normally charge at least £500 a side ...

Re: Play in strut top mounts

you can MOT a car up to 28 days in advance and not loose any time on it.

might as well get it done first before you rush into spending money you don't have to.

theres always a bit of play in them anyway.

Re: Suspension renewal time

fair point.

i must admit, once i've set my height(normally too low), i never change it.

do find that it stops rust and doesn't wash off though.

FK's did come with a grease rattle can, don't know if they still do.

Re: Suspension renewal time

i've always coated the threads in copper grease when assembling.

i'm sure others will have better ideas but its cheap and has always worked well.

Re: Suspension renewal time

as said, coilovers bolt to standard mounts but get the best you can afford.

i've personally got bonrath ones but be wary of these.

their indestructible but harsh is an understatement.
