Thanks for the suggestions. I have removed the washer. The hole on the shaft end of the new cv boots is quite a bit smaller (19mm) than the original ones (26mm). I can't imagine it streching to fit. I have tried GSF by e-mail but they have not replied. Maybe I'll buy a new boots from the dealer.

Mk1 CV boots
I bought a cv boot kit (outer) for my Mk1 Storm (1980) from GSF and am having problems fitting it. The wheel bearing end of the boot is ok but the hole at the driveshaft end seems too small. Are there different diameter driveshafts or do I need to force it on ?
