No its injection.have tried new switch and barrel on ignition.must be a broken wire somewhere or earth strap.

No power to coil.

Hi all.

My mk1 wont start and after doing obvious checks on battery etc still no joy.have checked for spark at plugs and king lead but nothing.there appears to be no power at one of the black wires which attaches to the coil.
Any ideas ??

hi nate,

just tried an old unit,the rev counter worked but the fuel and water did not register on the second unit,it could be the voltage regulator which serves the three gauges.
i guess next thing is to put the other voltage regulator on my fitted unit to see if the rev counter works and if the ...

mk 1 rev counter

hi all,

my mk 1 rev counter has decided to pack up all together.
fuel and water gauges are working fine still.ive taken out the facia and examined the printed circuit which appears to be in good order.
im suspecting a diode or resistor gone on the mini circuit board behind the needle plate,anyone ...

nate,

its the oil temp gauge thats measured in celcius,yes its odd about the handbrake light on as well,the engine sounds ok.

oil pressure issue.

having trouble with my mk 1 gti.

after starting up after the winter,the oil pressure lamp illuminated as well as handbrake with lever released,the oil level is exactly where it should be and i noticed the oil temp gauge is not moving up at all.

i suspect the oil pump is worn to excess,anyone have ...

hi all,

a couple of years ago i contacted the dvla they now have farmed out this sort of data to pvt companies.
one company quoted me £250 for nationwide numbers and £500 by county.obviously i politely declined.

I've looked into accessing the data from SMMT that they get from the DVLA to finally get some clarification on numbers of Mk1 and Mk2s on UK roads, broken down by model. Lets just say we won't be using club funds to purchase a report anytime soon when I saw the pricing details for them to pull the ...
