Re: 1983 GL Barn Find

I've got a couple of spare reversing light switches of that type - the plastic one that includes extra connections (for the economy meter I think) ... hopefully one of them will work, or I'll pull them apart and see if I can find out what's not making contact the way it should.

1983 GL Barn Find

So... I bought this GL on ebay... originally went to see it, thinking of buying it for bits. It was far too good for that though, so I bought it anyway. £720 later and it's mine. Two owners, 60k miles, with every tax disc and MOT cert that it's had. The previous owner was an elderly lady who gave up...

Re: '86 GTX Rolling Restoration - Project Timewarp

So... a bit of a quick progress update: After mucho work sanding and prepping, with a tiny bit of panel beating and a few skims of filler - especially where I'd previously welded up the rear arches, the car was ready for paint. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v512/mikehorsb/ProjectTimewarp/IMG_408...

Never touched the sunroof yet Ant.

I'm currently sat outside the workshop drinking tea, covered in sanding dust.

Pics to follow later...

Re: '86 GTX Rolling Restoration - Welsh Tour Pics Added

Time to revive this thread! With the sale of the Black ABF'd Scala, it's time to recommission the GTX as the backup daily and usable classic. I pulled it out from under the tarpaulin where it's been for 2 years, re-fitted the fuel feed pipe I'd borrowed for another car, and stuck a battery on it. I ...

Re: 1.6 GT - Dent Repair and rebuild

Made a lot more progress since the last update... Finished the welding, add a thin smear of filler on the rear arch, smooth and red oxide paint http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v512/mikehorsb/Rocco/IMG_3863_zpsa55f7a89.jpg And the front mount http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v512/mikehorsb/Rocco/I...

Re: 1.6 GT - Dent Repair and rebuild

More progress tonight! Front mount repair welded into place. Not my neatest welding ever - blew a couple of holes and had to fill in. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v512/mikehorsb/Rocco/30B299AF-24AF-43F1-9ABB-0CEF11B84A8C_zpscgucb6tk.jpg After a tickle up with the grinder it starts to look a lot...

Re: 1.6 GT - Dent Repair and rebuild

Rear Arch - Cleco pin fasteners to pull the two panels together. Need a 3/8" hole but easily welded up after. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v512/mikehorsb/Rocco/IMG_3845_zps6c244d6b.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v512/mikehorsb/Rocco/IMG_3844_zpsd0dcb7dd.jpg My joggler tool also has ...

Re: 1.6 GT - Dent Repair and rebuild

Well, I had another hour on it this evening... it would have been 2 hours but I distracted myself by helping a rallyist mate fit a fibreglass bonnet on his Hillman Avenger - proper old school! Anyway... After a bit of trimming and tweaking, and going round the edge with the joggler, I now have the a...
