Re: Deja Vu All Over Again - '83 GL
I screen scraped the pics from the advert before it disappears. Has some interior shots that I haven't posted yet - here they are. Paint the town beige! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v512/mikehorsb/Rocco/83GL/Screen%20Shot%202015-04-07%20at%2011.07.03_zpsbl24ejcu.png Steering wheel was just to m...

Re: Deja Vu All Over Again - '83 GL
It's not running yet - not by a distance, but the engine is bolted in the bay to get it off the floor, and free up some space in my mate's barn. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v512/mikehorsb/Rocco/83GL/1D203E74-EC99-4271-A16E-D7D0792ABDA2_zpslsbriqzb.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v512/mik...

Re: Deja Vu All Over Again - '83 GL
Thanks - sorry if you thought you'd won it. The seller tried to stop the auction but it was too close to the end I think. I painted the block on Weds night. Should get it fitted in the hole tonight (but not running), although I want to clean up the gearbox first. Car Plan Engine Lacquer goes on and ...

Deja Vu All Over Again - '83 GL
Some of you may have seen the 60k '83 GL I bought in late 2014, with the intention of putting it back on the road. I had a good offer for it and sold it before it was finished and back on the road. Well, I've gone and bought another. This one has done more miles and had a few more owners, but if any...

Re: Dazfx's 1985 GT
If you haven't taken the fuel filler neck off yet, there is another way. Jack the car up and take the rear wheel off at the driver's side. brush the muck out of the gap between filler neck and body. Get a bright light in the rear wheel arch and take the fuel filler cap off. Look down the filler neck...

Re: 91 ABF Track Project........Six weeks in
Do you mean a chopped standard subframe to fit the bucket, or an aftermarket one? I have a Scirocco one (I think) if you want to get it cut and shut the same way. Last scirocco I welded had a small 'overheating incident' but don't let that put you off :D I definitely have spare heaters if you need o...

Re: FORUM GLITCH - we're aware
Is there a thread you want us to report individual issues on? Should we just use this one? When I click on this thread - a car for sale - GT with engine problems for £400 http://www.sciroccoregister.co.uk/carforum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=18375 I got a 'The requested thread does not exist' error mess...

Re: 1983 GL Barn Find
Well, there's been a complete change of plan on this.
I had it ready to go for an MOT, but the car has now been sold to go on to better things. I'll update on that later.

I envy your motivation and progress! Before you go too far down the route of removing the heater I'd suggest thinking about how to demist the screen on wet track days (having done a couple of those, being able to see out helps a lot!) and also it's a useful secondary way of cooling the engine in an...

Re: 91 ABF Track Project........Day 38 - A sharp intake..
Day 40 - something about 40 days and floods.... Always one step forward two steps back with this f*&!@ng car. Finally got the Cobra seat to fit with the slider and give me some headroom. Not perfect but then its only a temporary solution. Also temporary is the cheap eBay steering wheel - requir...

Re: 91 ABF Track Project........Day 33 - Shiny and not so shiny
That's a Vagobonds one isn't it? Made by a guy in a garage in Wales, but he's sound. I know of him through someone - also ports cylinder heads pretty well.mr.brown wrote:Ebay - but I'm not 100% sure of the design - I'm waiting to hear from the seller.Bill wrote:Looking good, where did you get the strut brace from.

Day 25 pt2 Bored + new heatgun = http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/dd32/mr_brown_of_hw/Green/IMG_0393_zps0j4mg5l2.jpg And for future reference - don't bother. Seriously. All the crap I've removed is only 2.5kg. And now I have to grind/clean all the remaining crap, primer and then spray it. Sooooo ...
