From memory the bolts go through rubber grommets that are pressed into the caliper. I would imagine the replacement calipers have weaker rubbers than the original allowing your excess movement.

@ mark bain; never been one for selling myself, i should really try it sometime, but not with this. ;-) this one has a spoiler as well, did any sciroccos come without them??i didnt think so

ill have to get up there soon so and hope he hasnt dumped it already.
strange that they were designed not to have it, i always found the rr screen getting manky in wet weather, or is that my poor memory i wonder,haha.

mk2 scirocco boot glass without wiper hole

hi all,
was at a friends place a few weeks ago now, hes always got oddball stuff lying around the place.
anyway he told me he's planning a clearout of all the stuff outside.
one of those things is a boot door for a mk2 scirocco(he thinks 16v).
always noticd that there was no hole for a wiper arm so ...

can i ask what the plates between the box and engine, and the other plate between the waterpump and engine are for??
i thought the one between the box and engine was an adapter plate till i say the waterpump one.

i had the same type of a problem a long time ago, not in a vw but i took it to a friend of mine, we took of the exhaust heated with a blow torch and basically hammered a dent into the exhaust, didnt have any problem after that.
most exhaust fitters and garages would be able to do it for ya

Stock Engines for Mk2
EW – 1.6l 8v carb approx 75BHp
Easy upgrade is to an EX as very little needs to be changed.

EX – 1.8l 8v carb approx 90BHp
Easy upgrade would be a KR on side-draught carbs. Fuel injection requires new pump and fuel lines.

DX – 1.8l 8v K-jet injection approx 110BHp
