Re: The Revolving Door

It was initially shown as a concept called Iroc, so I think they always intended it as a spiritual successor to the Scirocco. They just either didn't have the balls to produce a more square-cut design, or couldn't make one look good on the Golf platform of the time (or with current car regulations).

Re: The Revolving Door

This is the issue you're after: http://i68.tinypic.com/11t2aa1.jpg http://i68.tinypic.com/2w59a3k.jpg Looking at that second photo, what strikes me is that the Scirocco takes the least styling inspiration for the modern version from the original (or at the least, it looks least like a pastiche). Whe...

Re: Mk2 rally car...

To me, that's a Scirocco-shaped kit car. Silhouette, I think, is the word. There was a saloon car championship that raced at a lot of the meets we used to go to with the 2cv Racing series back in the early 2000s. It was regularly won by a Skoda 110R... beating V8 Rover SD1s and various other appare...

Re: Saggy dash

I suspect the swelling leaves air spaces in the fibres - much like when chipboard gets wet - and you'll never persuade it back to its original shape.

I think it's some kind of compressed fibreboard.

Re: Saggy dash

Pretty much, I'd say. Half-decent ones turn up every now and then, but not quite as often as they used to.

Re: Saggy dash

It's warped because it has got damp and swollen, then dried out (possibly several times). The cure is to find a better dashboard.

Re: Boot lock seal

Expanding slightly, yes, as long as you remember which way round the s-link was attached (camera time :-)). I answered the question. No instructions were requested! (Philshaw might be suffering from some form of amnesia, as he had already asked the question, and received replies, here: http://sciro...

Re: Boot lock seal

Hi, very straightforward. Open the boot lid, undo the screws holding the latch in place, carefully remove it keeping note of the position of the 's' shaped linkage (which you'll need to unhook) and then remove the lock. Take out the grotty old seal, carefully clean up the painted surface so there's ...

Re: Mpg light turns on intermittently

It shouldn't ever light up in 5th. It's controlled by the vacuum system, I think, so worth checking the condition of all the vacuum hoses.
