Re: Rear wing removal mk2
You didn't clarify whether you meant rear wing or spoiler (which is what I assumed). I think you would need an angle grinder to remove the rear wing as it's integral to the bodyshell.

Good stuff, hopefully the pics can be added soon. I might end up doing this myself soon. ![good :good:](./images/smilies/good.gif)

Re: Lightened Flywheel
I might be wrong about this... I would consult an expert. There might be one around here somewhere (I haven't noticed Doug T from the states pitching up yet...). I am not an expert. ![Confused :?](./images/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif)

Re: Lightened Flywheel
I had one made for my racing car. In general a lightened flywheel will help with top end speed but reduce acceleration, at least from a standing start. I regularly made up several places off the grid simply because I was one of the few people without a lightened flywheel. Only problem was keeping th...

Re: Whats your paint code?
sorry Rich, mine's LA5Y too, and it's the second I've had that colour... Reasonably common on scalas with the colour-coded kit, less so on black-kitted GTs and GTXs.

Re: Rear wing removal mk2
It's quite well explained in haynes.
There are a series of bolts all the way down the bootlid on both sides, I can't remember how many. I don't remember there being any hidden ones. After that it just pulls off with a bit of help, there's some sealant/glue that keeps it in place and stops leaks.

Re: Spotted Thread
I'd leave it as it is... but maybe people should only "spot" cars they think might turn up here, if the point of the spotted thread is to identify other forum users (which would mean ignoring most mk.3s... there are 2 who have one registered here, I think). Maybe we should make register st...

You say you've cleaned the plunger switch, but have you tried a different one? I believe they do fail every now and then.

Re: Mk2 Ebay Prices
Alright Eric, thanks for clearing that up ;) Mind you, £3k for a standard GTL (I believe) Automatic Mk 2 :o GT... :geek: but you're right: I don't see anyone paying that much for a base-spec auto, no matter how good the condition. The same goes for that non-kitted red mk.2 with the hideous gold whe...

Re: 185/45/15 Tyres
The best money you can spend on your car is the tyres... it doesn't really need saying (but I will) that they're the only bit of your car in contact with the road. So any improvements you make to power, brakes or suspension will be pointless unless you've got decent rubber. A different size tyre wou...

Re: Spraying,best finnish
I managed to get a really good finish on a flash silver tailgate I did, but admittedly that's really small areas of paint compared to a bonnet. http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a310/drake-lee/Scirocco/n277200145_164837_8464.jpg I bought my cans from paints4u.com which gave a really good match and g...

Re: Mk2 Ebay Prices
It does seem to be quite variable. Some weeks you'll struggle to get anything worth having for less than £1000, then a little while later similar cars struggle to make half that.
Location always makes some difference, but the variation is hard to explain.![scratch ](./images/smilies/scratch_one-s_head.gif)

Re: Flickering handbrake light
Have you checked the brake fluid level in the reservoir? There is a switch in the reservoir cap which would cause the light to flicker if the fluid level is too low. The handbrake light is also the low brake fluid level warning light, as Pete says. If the level is low: If you can't see an obvious l...
