Re: Overheated... :(

Thanks guys, this has made me a little more relaxed!! Got the new pipe in place today and have run it up to temp, seems to be behaving itself which is good! Couple of the carb water pipes have tiny splits in them which I am now replacing, and finally tracked down what I hope is the cause of my oil ...

Overheated... :(

So... as per my 'wanted parts' add, I had a coolant hose split on me on Saturday. Helpfully at the water pump end it was the one that feeds from the expansion tank, so that emptied it pretty quickly!! I didn't really notice the temp rise until late, engine got chuffing warm... what are peoples ...

Re: Calling all gearbox experts....

Well, I've fitted the new seals from the 4T box, and both flanges (90mm) ones are identical. From what I've read, to be compatible for flanges the box needed to have one 'green' flange adapter and the other one needed to be 'normal'. The 4T matches this so hopefully all will be well! Currently sadly ...

Re: Calling all gearbox experts....

SO it would appear all of the parts I'm after can be sourced in one kit here... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-020-02K-O2Y-OIL-SEAL-SET-/111118393619?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item19df2c2113 Can anyone clarify the clutch question for me though? Would be great to get that on order ASAP ...

Calling all gearbox experts....

Hello all, I've finally sourced a replacement gearbox for my poor, synchro losing car. A friend had a very cheap 4T unit he has sold me, which should have the impact of gearing the car up a bit for motorway journeys, exactly what I was looking for. BUT, there are a couple of issues, for which I ...

Re: Urgent - Which fuse controls the radio and blower motor?

Thanks for the quick reply. Checked the fuses, and the blower motor had gone. Put a new fuse in, and the radio now works OK (I will explain shortly) and the blower it appears has ceased to be. Appearing in the wanted section soon... From memory, there wasn't a switched live when I put the new stereo ...

Urgent - Which fuse controls the radio and blower motor?

Hi All Driving to work this morning, and my blower motor stopped working, I noticed a minute later (whilst trying to fix it) that the radio had also turned off. neither will turn on now, hoping it's the fuse. Can someone point me in the direction of which one it is? I've got the fuse box list, but ...

New gearbox - but what clutch?

Hi All I've sourced a replacement gearbox from a friend as synchro is beginning to go on mine. Mines a 1.8 scala, with an ACD box. Replacement is a '4T' box, which has a much higher 5th ratio for better motorway cruising. Looking online, this is listed as having a 190mm clutch when fitted. Mine is a ...

Re: Tech tip : Make your locks fit your key (+ bootlock)

Bloody helpful that!! Just sorting mine now, it would appear they had an abundance of 3's when they were building my car... Have posted in Parts wanted... surprisingly, some #3 tumblers :) For anyone considering this, do it. The longest part for me was cleaning the bits inside the tumbler as I've ...

Re: Standard brake pivots bush kit?

To be honest, I'm not entirely sure what is fitted to them (haven't had a proper look yet) but had the thought at lunch time so thought i'd ask! Basically, if there are available the bushes (OEM or replica) that the brake pivot pinks go through on the bulkhead. I'm not sure what these consist of ...

Standard brake pivots bush kit?

Hi All,

Does anyone know of any suppliers that do a brake bush kit for the Rocco? Is this something you can even buy?

Also, any suggestions on a good place to buy a gear linkage bush kit? Got mine from GSF last time but it's starting to wear a little.

Cheers
Dan

Re: Gearbox rebuild vs swap

I have to agree on getting it rebuilt, I send a lot of customer work to the guy I've got in mind so I trust him! And like you say... if it does go tits up.. Currently mines running at about 80mph at 4000rpm, so not too badly geared. The replacement will be identical ratios. The FD in mine currently ...

Gearbox rebuild vs swap

Hi all, So I've come to the decision to keep my Rocco for the time being, I was a little on edge for a while. On this basis, I'm going to replace the gearbox as the synchros in mine are on the way out, and I'm hoping to do a few sprints/hill climbs in it this year. I can source an identical (barring ...
