Doors ''tired''

Hi everyone. Think I have a problem, which some of you might have solved on your cars. Basicly, due to the door being so long, it's what i'd call ''tired''. Have to lift it a bit to close, or just slam it harder. Do I need to change these bolts in hinges? Is that going to be enough? Sorry about the mistakes in written English, not a native speaker. Thanks

might just need tightening or a washer or two between the bolt and the hinge?

failing that i think MarkH did a bit on this (might have been the old forum?)

the proper way to fix is replacign the hinges, or atleast the pins.. but thats hard work!

a washer between the 2 halves of the top hinge to space it out slightly usually does the trick

anyone here can suggest me a garage around London to do it for me. Or maybe someone who's done it before has facilities where to do it. Cheers

sounds to me that the car mite have been involved in a prang, u can adjust the door lock up and down a wee bit if thats where its catchin.or else u will have to mod the hinges

No, it's well known that the hinges start to sag after a while, not necessarily a sign of damage at all.

prang? Is that a word for an accident. Hasnt had an accident I know of. Bought and sold a few cars in the past. I think I would notice

Leg-end as always geez, my Golf does this since I changed the doors. Off to find some washers. Roll on the weekend!

where abouts near london are you? i know a good mechanic in bromley...

Bottom hinge if you need to raise the outer edge of the door...

I have some hinges and have been meaning to do this for ages. Other things keep cropping up instead.

had to do this to my mini,

I'd reccomend cutting a bit of sheet steel to the dimentions of the hinge plate and drilling holes accordingly, washers do the job, but then you only have the contact area of the washers not the whole hinge which is more important on heavyer doors.
