Post by smudger28 »

Hi Guys

Any idea where I can get the backing plate for the above wing mirror please? My boy has lost his.

Here is a pic https://flic.kr/p/2odVBDb

Please can someone confirm you can see the picture. I'm not sure they're working.

Thank you

Do you mean the motorised adjustment plate for electric mirrors? The part number for that is 357959577A. There are a few for sale on ebay. It is also available new from VW Classic Parts in Germany priced 98 Euros + delivery (plus 20% UK VAT and customs clearance charge payable to UPS, thanks to Brexit).

The glass in your picture looks to be for the Golf Mk2, not Scirocco. The version for the Scirocco had part number 321857521 (flat) or 322857521 (convex).

Manual Scirocco Mk2 door mirrors were supplied only as a complete assembly comprising the mounting bracket, housing, glass and adjustment mechanism.

Hi GT

Thanks for replying.

That backing plate was out of the spare box that the chap who sold the car gave to us. It's definitely a manual mirror. So that means I need the whole mirror assy. I will keep a look out on ebay... Typical I can't just replace the parts..

Picture works, but that mirror is not from a Scirocco, the part number is for a RHD mirror from a Golf MK2

Scirocco glasses do not have those metal clipsies on the sides.

Your mirror on the car is an manual and for those there are no loose glasses made, officialy.
