K reg 1992 MK2 GT2 Clutch spec

Post by Jimbog »

Hi All,

I am putting a new clutch in at the weekend and I am confused between 200mm and 210mm clutch sizes. My car is a late 1992 K reg GT2 right hand drive 1800 8v carb EX engine. Any help? I am 90% sure it is the 210mm size. I am also changin the clutch cable and am going for the 1600mm length as opposed to the 1400mm length. Any issues with this?

Thanks

Jimmy

210mm clutch. Be careful as there are variations even in the 210mm - small spline for 8v and large spline for 16v.
I've used different length cables in my mk1 without issue but couldn't tell you what lengths offhand.

put the friction disk onto the input shaft and make sure it fits as long as that allright you cant be far wrong.
make sure you put a small amount of locktite on the bolts that go through the pressure plate into the crank though you really dont want those coming loose.

When you have the gearbox off it’s worth checking the input shaft seal etc. Good site for info and how to’s...

A gearbox oil change is always worth it as well if the gearbox oil has done anymore than 50,000 miles.
