Alternator identification

Post by 00mike00 »

Hi guys,
I called to replace my alternator on the Scirocco.
Mine specifically is the '88 GTX, 1.8 injection.
There were two coming up on his system, two different amp figures (higher and & lower).
Mine has literally no markings left on it, which one is correct?

Thanks

Go for the 90A option.

90a alternators was used on cars with electric windows etc and the lower alternator used on cars with less electrics.
Both will fit.

From a practical point of view I would always choose the 90A.

Driving as a daily in Scottish winters I can say from experience that the lower amp version can't always charge the battery fully.

Which one did you go for in the end?
