Light on Warning

Post by p in phcas »

Has anyone retro fitted a lights on warning to their vehicle? I regularly leave them switched on and a warning buzzer or something would help.

Yes you can get a relay from a later Mk3 Golf and possibly Mk4 Golf which slots into the fuse box which will buzz if you leave the lights on.

Relay No 292

Can’t get tapatalk to work so found a picture of the location of where to put the 292 relay.

Also a good upgrade if you do use the car in rain or daily drive is a programmable intermediate wiper relay so you can change the time between wipes from every second to 45 seconds compare to the standard 6 seconds. No 99 is the relay and again mk3 and possibly mk4 Golf relay or as with the other relay they do appear on eBay every now and then.

Both relays pictured here.

Awesome, thx for the responses. A simple as a relay! Now to find one - Joost?

Reading some other VW forums, there is a suggestion that relay 99 is also needed - the variable wiper one.

Mine works a little strange but still makes some noise.

If the blower fan is off and I leave the headlights on I get a constant beep, if the fan is in position 1,2 or 3 I get a beep, beep, beep sound if I leave the lights on…. Same if I leave the indicator on..
