Electric Window Regulators

Post by Aardent »

Hi
Messing about with window regulators for my Storm resto and from 5 sets I now have a good passenger side fitted. Drivers side is another issue. Apparently wont pass MOT without a working window and of course, cant find one for love nor money, anywhere in the world. So im thinking..

Any one got one (that works in situ) they wish to part with ?
Any stock hiding away ?
Has anyone ever swapped a manual cable onto an electric regulator ?
Alternative replacements that fit ?

Any advice welcomed. Thanks

I can't help with locating a regulator, but regarding the MOT, doors need to be openable from inside and outside, but window regulators are not part of the test.

Not sure if they will work but Mk2 golf or possibly Mk1 golf seems to have electric windows fitted to more cars?

The part number for the right door Scirocco lifter is 533837402D.

The MK2 Golf regulators look quite different. I can't see electric window regulators listed at all for the MK1 Golf.

The Mk1 Golf Cabrio windows operate by lifter arm rather than cable drive (motor supplied separately):

I can't see electric windows listed as an option for the MK1/2 Polo.

Manual cable does not fit as the cables are different lengths
