Judder/stutter on more than half throttle

Post by liam_0404 »

Hello all,

Another thing to try and sort :x

When I'm in low revs, sub 3k, and I press the throttle, there's a certain point where the car seems to judder/stutter. Then when I ease off the throttle, there's a point where it seems to pick up again.

The clutch is slipping but this seems like a different issue as it seems to be when I go past a certain point with the throttle. I've changed the plugs and coil a while back, carb has had a good clean too, haven't checked the timing or anything. Any ideas?

Thanks again, Liam

What carb is fitted?

Is your car a 1.6 or 1.8?

Is this similar to your running problem?

If you add a bit more info in your signature e.g. Engine size, engine code it saves writing it when posting. :good:

It has the 2e2 pierburg. It's a 1.6 8v, signature updated, cheers for the pointer

I tried wobbling the carb a bit to see if it affected the running but didn't seem to. Seems cheap enough so I'll get one anyway.

If it's not the carb flange you may see something else a miss, keep the old one as a spare it's genuine VW and if nothing is wrong with it.
