VW constant tension hose clamps

Post by DJPremier »

Loads of forum threads all over the show reviling the VW constant tension clamps. Yet I like them ! I find them much easier than jubilee clips and have the right tools to open them etc. Trouble is I can't find anywhere that does them in the sizes I need to replace a couple of manky jubilee clips on my top and bottom rad hoses. Any clues much appreciated :-)

scrapyard they're pretty generic and you will find them on many makes of car.
i think the problem most people have is an inability to open them enough to slip them off the pipe easily and everyone slips at least twice nearly causing broken fingers.
if i find some i have left over you can have them, any particular size your after?

Thanks guys. Size I'm after covers 35mm fully closed to 45mm fully opened. Need 2 of.

Before I got a proper tool I also risked several maimings by using mole grips ;-) I'll check the scrappers route if they are relatively common in that size.

Mk3 and possibly mk4 Golfs, seat, Audi, skoda would of used that type of clamp, just check the size.

Just silly money for a vw clamp from eBay...

The local scrappers came good. I liberated the clips I needed from a variety of the piled up engines. 2 quid for the lot :-D
