Mk2 abf conversion help

Post by BlackGTX »

Hello,

Undertaking a abf conversion on my mk2. Have a kjet engine and ecu & loom, not a full engine loom plus air / fuel injection

Problems i have are varied and most easy fixes but one main one is the airbox. The inlet has the tb on the left not the right and neither the abf or dx airbox fit on the left side of the bay, stand about 1 inch above bonnet line

Has anyone else come across this? Which lower airbox section did you use?

Do you have any pics?

I need to keep the top for the fuel metering head so im kinda stuck, it may be possible to put the dx one back on the right and duct across the bay but would like to avoid it

If i find a sandwich box the size i need its going on

cheers,
nah I'm using the ABF management and yes the dizzy will foul unless you can get the right master cylinder and reservoir combo.
i gave up trying to get hold of a mk2 16v servo as scene tax has made them mega money.
instead i used the ABF servo (which needed the ball on the rear cutting off and the thread for the clevis pin putting on.)and bought a new 22mm 4 outlet master cylinder and blanked the 2 ports closest to the dizzy.
then used beetle remote servo mod which i copied from ants 20v turbo build so the reservoir isn't fouling the dizzy either.
only down side to beetle reservoir is theres no level sensor.
i see what you mean now needing the fuel metering thingy, have a look round on eBay for the right handed manifold maybe you will get lucky?

Looks useful, have an in depth read later

Planning on using the dx dizzy on the 2l block and blanking the abf one and using the vacuume advance system but will have to see if it connects inside

If using k-jet. Simply half the lower half of the air box.
If running the abf set up a cone filter kit is your friend. This will have a the right gubbins for the air sensor etc..
