Mk1 golf and Mk1 cabriolet use the same strut so might give you some more options?

http://www.golfmk1.co.uk/Items.php?cat= ... SUSPENSION

Or here?
http://www.classic-vw.co.uk/front-suspension-1013-c.asp

Not sure if you need a shock as well and don't replace just 1 shock. Not sure if these struts you can remove unscrew the nut and remove the shock? Might be worth an email to find out?

Part number here?

I went through this a few months ago, after buying inserts, had to clean up and reuse my original ones.

Aren't the Bilstein ones a single piece?

I know what you mean about the part number, etka only lists the strut and shock. :-(

They do pop up 2nd hand every now and then when someone changes over coil overs.

The housing has never been sold separatly.

Only complete with shock, when shock is gone you buy an insert.

Ta Guys

they are complete with inserts.

the really annoying bit is i had a spare pair of housing and some swine nicked them out of our yard a few years back.

Do you still need a single strut? I have 3 so one is spare.

Edit: Ho hum...just saw your other thread.
