All the wires going into the iso socket on the car have been cut and I havent got a clue where the wires go. The wires on the female plug are different to the wires in the car due to the socket being changed at some point. Has anyone got a photo of the wire colours behind the centre console.

Re: Problems with wiring
What car, year etc?
Generally though the wires are as follows:
Red=live
Brown=earth
Grey/blue=instrument lighting (not really used much now as stereos have built in lights)
The other two colour wires will be the speakers, should be 4 sets of 2.
Hope this helps.

Re: Problems with wiring
its for an 85 GTX.
Ive connected the live and earth up I just couldnt work out where the blue/grey one went. When I connected the radio up and started the car it didnt work. Im thinking of running a wire from the battery with an inline fuse to the radio. Would that be ok to do.

Re: Problems with wiring
Yes it can be an improvement, especially if you use heavier gauge wire, but connect the unit's remote switching input wire to your ignition or horn so the unit only comes on when you switch the car on at the key, otherwise it'll constantly draw from the battery even when the car's stood.
Some higher end head units have an illumination input so you can dim the face illumination in conjunction with your dash lights using the dimmer dial. Looks impressive but that's about it!
