are interior aerials any good?

Post by malmac »

Hi,

want to wire up my old radio in my mk1 scirocco, trouble is it's not long been painted and i don't want to drill the front wing to fit aerial, so i'm thinking of getting an interior one.

I've seen ones you can fit to inside of windscreen or preferably rear window or even behind the dash, just not sure if anyone's tried them?

Any advice?

Had one on the Storm - worked perfectly well. I also have a brand new Blaupunkt one for sale :-D

I tried a small rubber cheapo aerial behind my glovebox fixed to a metal bracket as I did not want an aerial fitted to my wing but it does not work very well so don't try it.
If I use the sat nav the radio does not pick up anything so I just listen to my tapes or i-pod (old tape player in my Mk1!)
Best to get one designed to fit inside the car.

Not sure about FM, but I once had a DAB glass-mount aerial which had an exterior beesting and presumably used some form of transduction to the interior part of the aerial that mounted to the inside of the glass. That worked very well.
