SOLD // 1990 mk2 Scirocco GT2 - £1400 ono - Bristol

Model: Mk2 Scirocco GT2
Year:1990
Mileage:172,200
MOT: No
Current owner: Yes
V5 present: Yes
Location: Bristol (near Asda Bedminster)
Price: £1400 or nearest offer
Contact Details: PM or miles.nd.ward@gmail.com

Additional Information:
3 owners from new. I bought the car in 2013 from a lady in Southampton who bought the car in 1992 when it had done 23k miles, trading her Mk1 Sciriocco in as part-ex. I have this receipt, and a whole folder of other stuff, a complete service history with full stamps in the VAG book, and a list of everything the ladies husband did to the car himself over the years. On top of this I have kept all the receipts from stuff I did from 2013-2015, including bill of sale to myself.

The interior is in really good condition, I managed to get hold of some new front seats in the original style that were hardly worn to replace the old ones.

The car has been SORN'd on my drive for the last 2 years. I ran out of funds to carry on doing stuff with it, and life got in the way -- that's the only reason I'm selling it! Someone elses turn to enjoy it now!

The last MOT was 6 months before SORN -- the only advisory was rear tyre wear. I started it and moved it on and off my drive about 3 months ago, and turned it over again this morning just to check.

Stuff I did:
Old exhaust rusted through so replaced with the custom system from the legendary Mr Funk's "Bandit" (full stainless exhaust and manifold)
PS. Had to include the Mr Funk quote from his Bandit thread as I couldn't put it better myself (though in the thread he does go on to mention he'd gotten it calmed down a bit, still sounds killer though, and under "exuberant" driving conditions still sounds amazing): "The exhaust. This is a thing of beauty. A one piece, custom made 421 manifold and system with a replica twin exit at the rear. If you've heard it you'll know where I'm coming, literally. It sounds like Brian blessed being man banged in a prison shower. It's no knock 'em up in my shed jobbie, it's simply brilliant. And it should be, it cost the same as I paid for the car."
Repaired coolant system, water temperature/fan switch etc. replaced coolant hoses
Replaced all air hoses
Added oil catch can to air system
Replaced crap plastic fan belt cover with a nice VW metal one
New uprated Autotech spark plug leads
Replaced under bonnet fuel hoses
Stripped, cleaned and rebuilt the Pierberg 2E2 carb and tweaked the settings (still needs tweaking but almost there -- they always do!)
Replaced engine mounts (main one standard, the side ones uprated poly versions)
Short shift kit fitted
Complete overhaul of the gear linkages (new metal versions), delrin/poly bushes on the linkages etc.
Replaced the gearbox fluid
New front tyres (good condition, only used lightly for 6 months)
Four wheel laser alignment
New steering rack, uprated poly bushes
New front suspension struts, top mounts, poly bump stops
Replaced the heater fan motor and hot/cold lever/valve thing -- all working
New battery (Bosch) in 2014
New boot lock seal
Replaced the parcel shelf clips with non-cracked ones
Fitted a Philips CEM3000B DAB radio with USB connection etc. (aftermarket mid 90s Sony unit fitted when I bought it)
Uprated Alpine speakers in the boot (no holes made, replaced existing units)
Lots of services and replacing other small bits & bobs here and there

Spares / stuff that comes with it:
Haynes Manual
Full print out of the Bentley manual in a ringbinder
Spare clutch cable
Disklok Steering Wheel lock
Spare fog lamps x 3
Spare spark plugs x 4
Rear boot strut (see pics)
Spare fuel and air hoses
Spare front square headlamp
Nice lumpy camshaft and vernier cam pulley (see pics)
Brand new uprated brake cylinder (Meyle - Mk2 GTI)
Powder coated uprated brake servo (see pics)
Full set of engine seals
Spare clutch pedal
Spare wing mirrors x 2
Window winder handles (all metal) x 2
Spare short shift kit
Original gear shift linkages

Niggly things (all the common stuff really!):
Aftermarket sun roof that was put on in 1992 by a car dealer
No boot mat
Original aerial snapped off when I bought it, never got around to sorting
Few small rust spots on body work
Rubber door protector strips need re-gluing in places
Two small rips in headlining (hardly noticeable)
Bonnet has a few small rust spots from stone chips (previous owner)
Odometer stopped about 1 month before SORN
Small dent behind passenger door (was there when I bought it)
Small ding on drivers side wing (someone delivering a skip to my work...)
