VW Classic Parts - online ordering

Post by the edmundator »

Just a heads-up for anyone else who wasn't aware - VW Classic Parts (http://shop.volkswagen-classic-parts.de/vwcp/) has had an overhaul and not only is it now largely translated into English, it's also possible to place orders online rather than the old system of calling Germany. Just put my first order in.

It's worth checking the part numbers against the VW Heritage Classic parts site as well, sometimes the prices are marginally higher but it's free delivery (as opposed to 80 euro direct)

Hi for what it's worth there's a bunch in Germany called Autodoc they have a UK branch as well but it all goes back to Germany. Google them and check out their prices I think you'll be pleasantly surprised, they had everything I was looking for, the only downside being their minimum delivery charge which makes ordering small items a bit expensive but I think it covers up to 20 Kg at least they have what you need, happy hunting.

Take care with Autodoc. I suspect they list everything but stock little or nothing. I ordered a genuine Pierburg carb flange from them a couple of years ago and they tried to offer me an alternative instead. Getting my money back required persistence - repeatedly fobbed off. Trustpilot reviews suggest things haven't improved. They operate through a whole raft of websites under different domain names.

VW Classic Parts in Germany are very straight, though delivery charges to UK very steep.

Mecatechnic, a huge parts warehouse in France, I have also found very good.

I've used autodoc with some success, only thing to watch is the postage so best to wait for a sale or order over a certain amount and the postage is free
