This is a good upgrade as it made a massive difference to my old wiper motor, mine was a lot cheaper than the kit in the link, In my local scrap yard was a Mk3 Golf and I removed the wiper motor and loom cost £15, I already had some spade connectors in my tool kit to connect the loom to my original wipe motor loom. :good:

This car is beginning to be a 'fighter'.

NSF flange seal - the cap element anyway - leaking, now sorted. Watch out for the various pattern part kits - regardless of what the ebay/similar listing says the seal will be for the later cars, the early cars don't seem to be being looked after. May invest in a set of later shafts to get the later cups which are supported.

Oil cooler o-ring - sorted.

Seems to like losing a bit of coolant - pressure tested and all hoses checked/tightened.

New Pilkington windscreen sourced and fitted on Wednesday - sat in car today and it's got a ten-inch crack in it.

Tripometer/odometer gear - have source three replacement units, the first two have been cracked despited assurance from ebay sellers.

Had to wait until mid-November for the new windscreen to turn up - via insurance.

With that fitted, off to get an MOT and she flew through.

First chance to have a potter and a quick blast today - worth the wait.

During the off-road period I had a Toad Alarm fitted to replace the warranty failuer immobiliser - whilst the unit itself is fine I do have to flag appalling workmanship by the supplier. Southern Car Security of Horsham.

Avoid giving them the option to fit anything at all costs. Utter bodgers.

In brighter news - Mr Funk has been over and made a start on installing a lovely new Kenwood DAB stereo and speaker system. A second get together to come; there will be sounds.

March already?

Mr Funk returned to finish off the stereo, some other behind the dash fettling needed since last visit after the alarm guys bodging...

Sounds great and, from my point of view, looks great too. Not a purist.

GitanesII has also just spent the weekend on the club stand at the NEC restoration show and performed perfectly on the 300 mile round trip.

Nice to try the headlamps out on the m40 last night, the loom and bulb upgrades a huge improvement on the previous Ripper Street spec illumination..

Think a lot of moderns surprised at how this little car left them for dirt on a few overtake situations...Image

Three years on…

Still in semi regular use and went to both the NEC Resto Show 2023 and then a 500 mile + round trip to Formby over Easter.

Ulez exempt too.

New filler neck and other under body tidying up at Tuningwerkes in Croydon pre Christmas certainly paid off.
