been thinking about protecting theb uj from the exhaust and have decided to go with exhaust heat wrap aswell as doing the manifold

overall its an unusual build as there is a mix of abf dx and 16v parts all over the place

i wanted to do a conversion but without doing any permenant changes to the shell or anything like that

It's worth doing there has been a couple of Mk1 golfs gone up in flames due to the UJ boot catching fire.

I wrapped my steering uj in a soldering mat. Zip tied on. Manifold is heat wrapped too

did abit more
Image

did the steering rack boot and centered the rack using the haynes measurement

Image

had to take alot out of the bay to do it so this will get wrapped before fitting again
Image

scrappy swung round and collected an upper strut brace which cleared his relocated brake rez by half a mm also picked up a cut parcel shelf with speakers which i got off him about a year ago

Word of warning... the exhaust wrap stuff is horrible to work with so make sure you wear gloves and overalls as it's very itchy if you get it on your skin, it leaves fibres everywhere so wash your overalls when you finish.
