Cheers, Mark - I'll take a look at that :good:

It's not going to be particularly low - pretty much as it looks in the picture above. I'm looking at getting a set of these -

They're 25mm off-the-shelf but can be ordered in custom lengths. I'll probably go for the 25mm ones as that should avoid any (or much) bump-steer issues.

And for future reference - don't bother. Seriously. All the crap I've removed is only 2.5kg. And now I have to grind/clean all the remaining crap, primer and then spray it. Sooooo not worth it.
Surprised at that - the bag of sound deadening I took out of my track car (air chisel - had to weld up a couple of 'drain holes' I'd made afterwards) It does tend to pop off in big chunks though, so easy to bag and weigh. Never got round to wiping off the residue yet - only 5 years later.

Ebay - but I'm not 100% sure of the design - I'm waiting to hear from the seller.
That's a Vagobonds one isn't it? Made by a guy in a garage in Wales, but he's sound. I know of him through someone - also ports cylinder heads pretty well.

Always one step forward two steps back with this f*&!@ng car.

Finally got the Cobra seat to fit with the slider and give me some headroom. Not perfect but then its only a temporary solution. Also temporary is the cheap eBay steering wheel - required to determine whether flat or dished fits better.

and then noticed this

The upside is that I was thinking of ditching the heater matrix/fan for an altogether different reason and this has made my mind up.
Don't forget to try that seat with your helmet on :D

I have spare heaters if you need one. Swap you for some bumper brackets ??

Before you go too far down the route of removing the heater I'd suggest thinking about how to demist the screen on wet track days (having done a couple of those, being able to see out helps a lot!) and also it's a useful secondary way of cooling the engine in an emergency (my rad fan had packed up it turned out).
What he said...

With the seat as it is there isn't enough headroom. It's on mk2 Golf subframe AND slider hence the height issue. It'll do fine for MOT purposes though.

There is the potential for an inch further drop on these subframes which might do the trick helmet wise.

Otherwise I'll be looking for a friendly Scottish amateur welder to help me weld in bars for my side mounted OMP seat ;-)

The brace is indeed a Vagabonds "Neuspeed copy". My issue is/was that when the bolts are tightened up the rose joint is still pretty loose so the whole bar rocks back and forth quite easily. I don't remember the Neuspeed being as bad.

As mentioned before I have a potential heater/blower solution but can only test this once I've got the old one out.

Mk1 bumper brackets? They're yours anyway next time I see you :-)

Do you mean a chopped standard subframe to fit the bucket, or an aftermarket one? I have a Scirocco one (I think) if you want to get it cut and shut the same way.

Last scirocco I welded had a small 'overheating incident' but don't let that put you off :D

I definitely have spare heaters if you need one. I'd started buying spares for a couple of 'duds' I had in cars, but it turned out they both had a bad earth and are fine now.

nice where can you get them? and why 25mm length out of interest?

are you flipping your track rods too?

25mm because they're a stock item (longer are custom made) and I'm not looking to seriously lower the car - maybe 40/50mm from stock height. This "should" mean no track rod flipping necessary.

Not really - unless I remove a triangular support.
