You'll probably hear it from Longbridge mate :hehe:

Yeah pretty stoked so far, nearly there again, so long as nothing else goes wrong. Hopefully be another update Sunday.

Had an impulse buy at Ultimate Dubs on Sunday. Thought I would give it a whirl.

GTI headlights ain't as rare as they once were, so...

One fitted back in the frame...

And finished...

Image

Both sides are done, pretty chuffed, couple of air pockets tho. :ire:

Gonna get another roll to do some normal headlights and indicators, its a right pain to work with tho. Patience is definatly the key.

I have been doing stuff honest! :hehe:

Got fed up with the flakey soundproofing going all over the place with the slightest touch, so got the hoover on it...

Image

Will remove the glue at a later date.

Anyway, got some filters sorted, will be looking into re-locating the coil as a result tho, always knew that may be the case.

So as they arrived...

Image

And all fitted up...

Image

Image

And then the fun began, the carbs wouldn't go back on with the filters in place, so 4 hours off faffing and head scratching later...

Image

Well chuffed with these P-clips...

Image

Also made the remaining fuel lines up and connected them to the pump and pressure regulator, need to order two more finishers however...

Image

Thats not how they will be mounted if you were gonna ask... :hehe:

Also, two quality pieces of West Midlands Bodging, well chuffed.

First, the alternator adjuster wouldn't reach the bracket so extended it by connecting the end of another bracket....

Image

Will get them welded together at some point *coughAntPleaseTeachMeHowToWeldcough*

And the next, drilled two holes on a bolt to use as a throttle cable bracket for the pedal end...

Image

Passed the cables through and it only bleedin' works!!!!

Image

So, just waiting on my distributor, and that's pretty much it I think. Just the cosmetics under the bonnet. And securing the pump and pressure regulator, but I have a plan :chill:

Too kind my friend :beers:

If this weather will pick up I may have a play at getting the sod running tomorrow, was called into work today. Apparently working 10 days in a row isn't enough at the moment? :dash:

I keep forgetting to update this.......

Got the dizzy back and is in place, secured the coil with a huge stainless P-clip. Yet to mount the pump and pressure regulator. Am loathed to drill into the body of the car so more head scratching needed there.

A pic...

Image

With all this in mind, today I turned the key but she wouldn't do anything. Like the battery was dead. Introduced the starter motor to a copper mallet and hey presto, she cranks but won't fire. Faffed about abit but I'm not entirely sure what the problem is, I'm guessing dizzy/intermediate timing.

Think I may have reached the end here and after some food will tidy up a bit under the bonnet and just send her away as she stands to be set up at Aldon Automotive. Half day at work tomorrow will give me ample time to decide how to mount the pump.

Will update at the end of the week :good:

At 9am today, some knowledgeable people came to take here away....

Image

And I have just received a call to say she runs! :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

Words cannot express how happy I am, honestly.

Apparently ticking over at 3k but sounding like a goddamn sexual tyrannosaurus! I love my car again, and my friends, cheers chaps for getting her purring. Off to Aldon Automotive soon, then tax and MOT. She will be ready for June 1st with a bit of luck
