windscreen wiper arms

Hi All

I recently changed my wiper motor as the bolt holding the offside wiper arm snapped off, the new one is fitted and working, but the bolt size is bigger that the original, was there a change at some time or have i purchased another variant, current bolt is at least 50% wider, is it possible it has come from a golf?

There are two wiper bolt sizes, one is M6, spanner 10, and the other is M8, spanner 13.

The change was somewher end 1987.

So you need either a M6 mechanism or M8 wiperarms.
