Have a very nice low miler Mk 2 Scirocco, interior is in excellent condition except for the sunroof handle which droops down like an old donkeys u-know-what !
Had a close look and it seems there is a metal strip between the handle and the splined bit that attaches to the spindle which has lost its "spring".
Just wondering if anyone else has experienced the problem and if so how they have resolved the problem?
Any ideas gratefully received.

Re: sunroof handle/winder
Well no ideas so far from anyone so guess you all have sunroof handles which stow themselves ok .
Took my handle off and apart today and this is what I found,
The little 'W' shape spring in my cars handle is broken.....like this.....
The Internet reckons its possible to make up a new W spring from an R clip so we will see....have ordered a couple and now will have to see if I can bend the R clip into a W shape. Happy Days.

Re: sunroof handle/winder
Hi Rocco, many thanks for the link to the handle but have sorted it now.
Picture below shows the spring between the handle and part that is screwed onto the sunroof cog. Heavy black "W" shape in the picture. I bought an " R " clip and using pliers bent it to the W shape and then fitted inside the two parts of the handle and it works a treat. SORTED !!!
Proof of the pudding , not a very good picture I'm afraid.

Re: sunroof handle/winder
That will not fit the Scirocco, which has a tilt and slide sunroof, whereas the Golf sunroof only slides.Rocco2 wrote:Found this one: http://www.mk1autohaus.com/NOS-MK2-SunR ... _7424.html
