How much is a decent Scala worth with recon engine, Agreed value?

Post by frlrubett »

I have a MK2 Scala, have been looking into agreed value with an insurance company but am not sure about how much to put as the "requested value".

Body work, 95% Interior 90% and since purchase I have done this to the car.

Jan 2019 Corrosion treatment to whole chassis.

Jan 2019 Respray to bonnet, door and roof.

Feb 2019 New fuel filler pipe, coolant tank.

Dec 2019 Complete engine rebuild, piston rings, pistons, head gasket, bottom end, tappets etc.

Dec 2019 New clutch.

Dec 2019 Replacement exhaust.

Any thoughts?

Let us know what they agree to.
5K was quoted in a classic car mag as concourse.

I have a 1991 gt11, I bought it for £1200 back in 2004. I have insurance with Lancaster and their valuation has been bumped to £2500 from original £1800

Work done:
Jetex exhaust
New front dash loom
New neck and fuel tank
Rear disc brakes
Original interior is good no cracks in the dash
Tappets replaced and head skimmed back in 2009
Carb fuel system serviced with many new parts.

Body seems to be good for its age but then it’s never been a daily driver...

I’m not sure if my quote is right or wrong, it’s governed by what people want to pay. Or maybe public interest sometime in the future could cause an explosion interest like with the mk1 golf.

My mileage is 140K but still well below the average for a 1991 car. If I ever change insurance I’ll get a second opinion......
