TV light mk1s in the UK (RHD)?

Post by the edmundator »

There I was, confidently saying that VW never bothered selling lowly-spec square-headlamp mk1 Sciroccos in the UK (hence why I have LHD lamps with beam deflectors on), only to find this:

Looks to be RHD, with square lights, and definitely a contemporary photo. Did they sell stuff like this in the UK? I thought it was only TS, GLS, GLi, GTi and Storm.

Possibly a personal import via Forces personnel.

Or from a rhd market e.g. Cyprus or Malta.

The TS was the only officially listed Mk1 over here until rebadged as GLS as per Craig and Sues car.

I did see rhd NOS tv lamps on eBay once which would indicate the Southern European rhd market received them.

Looking on Wikipedia, I think Japan might have had them, too.
