Scirocco Featured in Classic Car Weekly

Post by Nigel GTII »

Hi all - Issue 1372 15th Feb a feature on the MK II - basically it says buy one now as undervalued !

It lists ads of three for sale from their on line ads and I bought the Silver grey one back in August 2016 so CCW's editorial is a bit behind the times!

I've been rather busy since I bought it and have only just listed the parts in wanted I need to make it mint.

The feature doesn't cover the multiple wheel options which I found confusing but have now got my head round it - basically I need the steel wheels which one rarely sees as no doubt everyone bought aftermarket alloys like the car I bought.

I wondered if CCW contacted the register to get some info on the car?

Hopefully I will be a bit more active now and I'll do a piece on my first Scirocco purchase.

They were in touch and a few of us edited the article fairly significantly to make it more accurate!

They did not ask us about the examples for sale though, so i guess they trawled up some old adverts.

Nigel

TJ was my old GTII and I owned it at the time of the original article/photo shoot for Practical Classics.

I was wondering when it would resurface having 'disappeared' from the scene a couple of years ago.

When I sold it on, it was still on its original steel wheels that came in the boot of the car when I got it having had some vw sports rader alloys fitted by the second owner. Those steels wer totally original and like new having only done 2000 miles max

Here's a photo of it at Stanford Hall in concours poss 2011 ish?

I own a GTX but do miss TJ, had some great memories with that car.

Stupid paper is not A3 or A4 size so the scanner wont recognise it properly....

Cant seem to get it to do anything better than the pics above

Good article and I was able to read it no problem. Glad I have a Jetex exhaust fitted on mine as the standard one does not sound a bit fruity? My old 8 v sounded great on the standard exhaust.
