13" Tyre suggestions

Post by jonGTX »

Just come into possession of some interesting retro 13x5's for the rocco, problem is I've got no idea on suitable tyre sizes, anyone got any suggestions? Was thinking 175/65/13 but am told they'll be massive in terms of sidewall :chortle:

if you go for a lower profile (and i think they should probably be 70s to give you the correct overall size) you're gonna end up with a massively inaccurate speedo, and be screaming the nuts off it at high speeds.

Was looking to keep roughly the same rolling circumference and ride height of the 195/45/15's she normally rolls on

Thereby working out to 175/65/13's

Original tyres on the snowflakes were 185/60/14 which would work out to be 175/70/13

Not much difference there really but I'm still unsure, need some sensible advice as a lot of what I'm finding is people telling me to go for stupid profiles as it'll ride lower :ire:

The Scirocco MK1 which was fitted with 13x5j wheels was supplied with 175/70/13 tyres.
What type of wheels have you found?

Carrying on the theme of having rare, unusual, retro looking wheels

Centres are plastic so will be CC'd to the car, rest of the face will be polished

Nice!!!! wheels :good:

Im sorry to say but if you keep the rolling radius correct they are going to be balloon tyres and look poo. Im suggesting you use "stupid" profiles so the wheels can look there best.

For example 175 70's.. Baaaallllllllloooons!!!

175 65.. doesn't look to bad tbh

Maybe a 165 65 13 is a good compromise?. The problem is with them only being 5J if you just dropped the profile and kept the width you would find the tyre just overhangs the rim.
