starter motor problems

Post by haddock_n_chips »

Hey
my starter motor packed up a couple of weeks ago so i got another one off here (2nd hand)

however this one seems to have packed up too!

might just be a case of bad luck or im hoping its nothing more serious causing the starters to pack in!

Anyhoot

i disconnectted the motor from the engine and got some one to turn the key, its spins over but not hugely fast. When its connected in the engine you can just hear the solenoid click and then nothing. not even an attempt to turn the engine. It bump starts fine.

ive whacked it, oiled it rocked it in gear but still no luck

anyone got any ideas? or is it easier to just replace it?!

WiLL........

Could be an earthing problem? Also worth saying that if you've got the time and patience, you can probably get new bushes and so on to refurbish your existing starter motor.
