Passenger side window stuck

Post by Delahaye92 »

Passenger side window has decided to get stuck halfway down. Any tips on how to fix this?

I guess you have electric windows?

I'm not up on electric windows, checked the fuse?

Does it go up and down, just stop half way?

Or did it get half way and then stop working?

If the motor is put under too much strain, ether because the regulator is corroded or perhaps the glass is stuck on the rubber then the circuit will draw too much current, at this point the fuse should pop (Providing the correct amperage fuse is being used)

If it just stopped working after getting half way and you no longer hear the motor trying to work, I would suspect the fuse has popped, so check that.

If the fuse has not popped and you cannot hear the motor working when you press the switch the motor may be stuck on a dead commutator, Try pulling the glass up while pressing the switch, it may finish up by itself.

Also, seems obvious but check both switches!

If you have a multimeter you can check for 12v and ground at the switch and the motor.

It's a really simple circuit, and in my experience with these it seems more common that the regulator corrodes due to water ingress from worn window rubbers...Not much can go wrong with the circuit. Saying that, 10 minutes with a multimeter will be able to confirm that.

provided the regulator and regulator are not the issue you should be able to get the window up without taking the door panel off.

All else failing, you can take the door panel off, remove the regulator and prop the window up with a bit of wood.

Hope that helps.

Is there a way to do up manually?

I'm not sure which fuse, if any on the box, It may well be an inline fuse.

You can do it up manually if you take the door panel off, But its probably an easy fix

If the windows are factory then check above the fuse box for a 30amp (Usually Green) fuse.

If you can no longer hear the motor doing anything, thats actually a good sign, most likely just a break in the circuit, just send 12v to the motor. (No need to take the door panel off to do this, unless there is a break in the circuit or a popped fuse actually in the door)

Take the motor out and lift the glass up, put the motor back.
