Any recommendations for a crimp tool for uninsulated connectors

Post by DJPremier »

Before I fire up Amazon-bay, does anyone have a recommendations, or ones to avoid, for a crimp tool for uninsulated connectors. Primarily for small brass ones with a locking tab that plug into the stalks connectors, and dash switches. I have the connectors and cable, but need the right tool for the crimps. A ratchet crimper, but not one costing the earth preferably. Lots of stuff online but prices vary very widely, for what mostly looks like the same tool. If it's actually pretty much of a muchness for 25 quid then I'll just buy one off Amazon.

All opinions welcome :)

i bought a specialised pair of pliers from mac tools that crimps very well
they look like these

but you can buy ratchet crimps or whatever you want from maplins.
however to do what you want to do i would be more inclined to solder the wires into the crimps.

I dont mind project cars but I HATE SANDING!!!

I have two -

-costs a packet but 13 years later still going strong.

I also have a generic Chinese one which does the job but nowhere near as nice to use as the one above

Thanks fellas. That more capable ratchet tool linked from VWP seems to be around on Das Bay for about 12 quid. Time to go Buy It Now ;-)
