Red temp light flashing constantly ???

Post by MrD »

My temp light is lit when i first start the car normally, then goes out within a couple of seconds.
Today i got in the car for a 30 mile round trip to Cambridge, and it just keeps flashing constantly ? turned off and started again a couple of times ,which made it go out for a min or 2 then it came back on.
Temp gauge is sitting just over half way,fan is working as far as i am aware.
Any ideas folks, this one has me stumped,it`s not getting too hot, weird

I pulled over after a couple of miles and checked that, was a tiny bit low, attempted to get some in but i think more came out. Will leave it until it`s cooled down then see if i can get anymore in.
Cheers

I've had this problem in the past. Found out there was a very slight coolant leak. Check your coolant hoses.

Could be a dodgy sender if the water level's ok.

I think the light flashes when there is a slight variation in water pressure.

So as mentioned above, check for leak/s

Most of the times this caused by a dirty sender.

Take it out and clean both of the rods, these wil get corrosion on it if water is used and not proper coolant.
This wcan also be caused by other cantamination inside teh engine.

Succes, Joost

I think the light operates under both conditions - the temp gauge should guide you as to which is the problem.
