Headlight warning buzzer - fitting

Post by christhemann »

Has anyone done this? It seems a pretty useful thing to have, seeing as
i've nearly left the lights on a few times at night!

As far as I can tell, just need a 12v buzzer wired to the door sensor (for interior light) and also to the instrument backlights (when headlights on).

Has anyone done this? If so wheres the best place to take the feed from...
Maybe I could make some up to fit Rocco's.

Chris

Its a very easy mod to carry out, depends on how good your soldering is!

All it requires is fitting a buzzer between a park light feed.....
Grey/Green wire at back of light switch (early Mk2)
Grey/Red wire at back of light switch (late Mk2)

.......and the driver's door pin switch wire (either Brown/Yellow or Black)

Job Done :good:

Managed to get myself a buzzer and thought I'd give this a go.
Only thought I'd ask the question, did any Rocco's have this as standard?

I've seen several MK1 golf fuseboxes that seemed to have a buzzer relay....

If not then, i'll have to trace the door switch wires as they come in the door
and wire up to them and the backlights for the ashtray / cig lighter.

dead easy. -ve on the buzzer connects to the wire coming from the driver's door switch (probably brown and white as it is a switched earth)

take the +ve from anything that lights up with the sidelights on. you're looking for a wire that isn't brown!
