Re: Update on Modified Braking.
I thought that the argument against strengthened wishbones, whether it is seam-welding or tubing, was that you will bend the body before the suspension if you kerb the car or hit potholes at speed. I'd be interested to know what brakes you have, I've got upgraded brakes and never had an issue with b...

Re: 10/40 SYNTA SILVER
As I was told not to use this in the last century http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Engine-Oil-Castrol-Magnatec-SAE-10W40-A3-B4-Car-Semi-Part-Synthetic-1L-Litre-/290994734096?hash=item43c0a34410 As it blocks up pipes and sticks to much. Not sure who told you that, I've been using it for the last 10 years a...

Re: spring caps
The picture is deceiving, the Mk3 cap has an indent to locate the end of the spring, bit like the bit on the strut...the Scirocco one doesn't. Of itself that shouldn't necessarily cause a problem if the other specs are the same.

Re: make my car faster!
Fair point. It's currently about 150bhp and torquey...The thing is my daily is a bmw 535d, 3 litre twin turbo that does 0-60 in 6.5 secs so it needs to have some poke to give that a run for its money. If you read through the post with spec sheet, http://sciroccoregister.co.uk/carforum/viewtopic.php...

Re: make my car faster!
then possibly look at megasquirt to replace the kjet as apparently the kjet starts to choke it up a bit at higher bhp's Exactly how much BHP are you looking at? From memory, K-Jet can cope with ~200BHP with the correct set-up, might not be the smoothest at idle with the changes done to the engine b...

Re: My first scirocco love at first sight
Welcome. Wouldn't mind a better picture of the swirlpot, it's the bucket shaped thing just in front of and underneath the airfilter in your picture, it looks like it has been bypassed if the 2 pipes sticking out are anything to go by. The engine is going which is good so whatever has been done works...

Re: Meeting in Scotland? (Time and venue TBC)
Almost forgotten about this.
I hope we can do it in September as there is at least a chance of a decent day.
I'll have a look for possible locations, a Sunday would be fine for me as well.

also i noticed on the mk1 golf forum someone had posted an exploded diagram of both the carb and cis fuel setups and noticed the fuel injection models have a gravity valve which cuts off the fuel supply in the event of rolling the car but dont see it in the carb setup? Carbs don't work upside down ...

Re: fuel metering valve mk1 scirocco gti - HELP?
Personally, I wouldn't worry about the cold start device until the metering head was done, if everything works it would just be a waste of money. You can get them from scrapyards for a fiver a pop, just look for a low mileage car. This gives you an idea of how common they are http://infopart.org/bos...

Re: Oil pressure switch problems.
Sounds like they've given you the one for using with an oil pressure guage, the Scirocco sender 056919081C isn't used for that it is a low pressure warning sender. If you have the high pressure sender the light flashes continuously. Edit. I assume you are talking about the one on the side of the head?
