Re: Spotted

Spotted a red C reg Mk2 on the ringroad in Leeds heading towards Horsforth last week.

Re: Spotted

Saw a Mk2 on one of these police documentary progs last night. They raided a lads house in London and there was a c reg (i think) GT almost the same as mine that had been smashed to shit by somenone (dented door and smashed windscreen and passenger window). Found a few stolen credit cards in the bac...

Re: Spotted

A lovely red Scala that belongs to the lady who works in the petrol station just of the A64 in York. She also owns a Beetle so like her VWs. She was saying with the bigger boot etc its much more suitable for ferrying round her kids.

Re: Cam belt change

40k miles is the usual recommended life of a belt. Although I believe that 80k miles is the service interval, no? Or am I just getting confused with the over-engineered wonder of Volvos? Volvo S40's are a bit of a mish mash when it comes to cambelts. There are 2 different types of engine in them, t...

Re: Underseal

I can see how people get carried away though and end up rebuilding their cars  The most common phrase i use on my Imp is that i am 'nearly there'. Have welded nearly all the bodywork now, and was going to spray it, however i am now not happy with the floor and want to replace half of it before...

Re: Underseal

I truly hate underseal. In my experience it probably does more harm than good as when it dries out it holds in moisture and creates rot. Also once it is on it is an absolute ballache to remove. I have spent many hours with a paint gun and a chisel trying to remove it. It is good at protecting your m...

Re: spring clamps

Finding a garage that had one was hard enough for me. There was only 1 garage in York that had one, they had lent it to someone else who had in turn lost it. I took mine to Volksworks in Leeds and they did it for me. Much easier. Alternatively the tool on e-bay. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Sealey-Vs1638-E...

Re: Whats your paint code?

Hi guys, i still dont know my paint colour (i guess its not my car that is flash red, as its not a GTII?). No sticker in my boot. Really need to get this sorted as i need some paint urgently. Scotty If it's the one in the picture I'd say it's flash silver. Looks like a champagne-gold colour in most...

Under-bonnet sound deadening

Did someone post something about the best way to get off the glue under the sound deadening? I have looked and cant find it, but am sure i read it. Have just taken mine off, and for some reason the heat gun seems reluctant to peel it off. Whats the best way in your opinion before i destroy the car w...

I have just done mine on the attached thread. http://www.sciroccoregisterforum.co.uk/carforum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=577&p=5168&hilit=stereo#p5168 Ironically the stereo works better than it did in Citroen which it came out of as it now has a memory, even though it was connected via a prope...

Re: Cleaning a spoiler

In my experience the back to black does not work for that long and never looks brilliant, although others may have had better experiences than me. I am doing my bumpers soon as they just look rubbish at the mo even with several coats of back to black. The only thing i am not sure of is with the cons...

Difficult gear changes

Since i have owned the Rocco it has had difficulty getting into 1st gear when hot. After driving it to London and back this weekend i seems to have got worse (probably me forcing it into gear either end of the A1). It seems to go into 1st better if i put it into 2nd first. This makes me think it is ...
