Re: Membership package?

Follow up on this - I never actually received anything at all unfortunately. I'm not sure if it was missed or what, but I do wonder why I paid the membership fee in the first place.

Ho hum.

Membership package?

Afternoon,

I paid my subscription for membership back in November last year, and I'm yet to receive the membership package. Any idea whether this was sent out?

Cheers!

Re: Suspension Bush Renewal

Thanks for all the advice, guys - I think on the back of your recommendations that I will go with poly bushes, specifically Superpro ones as they seem to have better reviews and have more "give" according to various sources. I'm pretty sure I'll be fine with the ARB and wishbone bushes at ...

Re: rear hub nut

Apologies, didn't clock that it was the rear - the perils of phone browsing. Tighten the nut down to seat the bearing, then back it off until the thrust washer can just about be moved sideways with the end of a screwdriver - then tighten down a quarter turn.

Suspension Bush Renewal

Morning all, I'm going to be fitting a new suspension kit in the coming weeks, and whilst I'm under there I figured it would be a good idea to renew all of the suspension bushes at the same time. I'm just trying to get an idea of what I need, where to get it, and how long it's likely to take to comp...

Re: argh speedhumps!

You should be able to get some compensation for the damage from whoever put the speed bumps in, I reckon. Were they on a public road?

Re: Car won't move - handbrake stuck?

Certainly sounds like the brakes are seized. Do you have any way to tow it? That can sometimes make them unstick. Failing that, try jacking up each corner and see if the wheel will turn (with the handbrake off!). Should allow you to determine which wheel is causing the problem.

Re: high tickover.

Before taking off the AAV, it's worth checking that the two wires going to the plug that clips onto the AAV are intact. I had the same issue a while back, tried soaking the AAV, replacing it, etc - before I realised that one of those wires was broken. A quick bit of soldering and it was sorted.

Re: Car Whistles?

Just a thought, but if the car's had any work done on the timing/cam belt, it could be that the tensioner has been overtightened.

Accelerator cable - Mk1 Golf fit?

Evening all, Another quick question - will an accelerator cable for a Mk1 Golf GTI fit a Scirocco Scala injection? Re: Mk1 Storm stalled, now won't start

If you have a spare relay, swap it over and see if that helps - I do remember hearing about people who've bridged the terminals with a wire just to see if the pump runs as well. Could be worth a try. Failing that, is it worth checking the ignition amplifier as well? It's not really a typical symptom...

Re: Mk1 Storm stalled, now won't start

I think it depends on what relay type you have. Mine used to prime at II, but since replacing the relay it doesn't any more; however the car still runs fine. It could well be the relay at fault though.

What happens when you turn the key? Does the engine turn over?
